FLINT, MI — Mayor Dayne Walling says the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department is offering to reconnect the city to Lake Huron water at an estimated cost of $1.5 million per month — more than the city can afford.

Walling said Tuesday, Oct. 6, that talks are continuing about the state helping the city pay that expense in the short term — until Flint can connect to the Karegnondi Water Authority pipeline that’s under construction. [...]
