MUSKEGON, MI – Several dozen Michigan families could soon enjoy safer dwellings thanks to a federal initiative designed to help vulnerable residents living in substandard homes.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced on Tuesday, Sept. 30 that Muskegon County and the City of Detroit Planning and Development Department will receive $4.7 million in grants to help prevent lead poisoning and other household hazards such poor air quality and inadequate pest management.
